The plea from WM users: please put Exit button/menu item into your apps!

Today on one of the forums where I participate as an expert I came across with the suggestion from one of our users that our applications lack “exit” button. I answered to this question saying that our apps can be minimized by pressing the red button. The user wasn’t really satisfied with my answer as he considered it to be not very convenient.

Aftewards reading some mobile news I read an article posted by MSMobiles.com that is also about the problem of exiting applications on WM devices. They also mention that Microsoft itself admits that lack of Close is bad thing, but still Microsoft is not putting Close/Exit into their own apps for Windows Mobile!

What do you think about closing apps on WM devices? Do you really think that developers should pay special attention to “Exit” button in the applications?

Microsoft’s Question to Developers: Are You Ready to Port your iPhone App to Windows Mobile?

Microsoft asks developers whether they are ready to port the iPhone applications to Windows Mobile. Do you think it will work and most of the developers will start porting their applications to WM?

Personally, I’m not sure that all applications can be ported to WM due to the hardware restrictions. Besides, each application can work differently on each device. Therefore, the developer will have a headache trying to support his aaplication for Windows Mobile.

What are your ideas?
